ABOUT KARYN
Dr Karyn Forbes is a dedicated General Practitioner in Women’s health and menopause care.
Hi I’m Karyn, I’m a GP based in Newcastle for the past 12 years.
I understand how personal and complex women’s health care can be because I see it every day, both in my patients and in life outside the clinic.
Over time, I kept hearing the same familiar story: women feeling rushed through care, unsure about their symptoms and wanting clearer answers, better support and more time to explore their options.
That is why I created dedicated Women’s Health GP appointments.
Where appointments are longer, care is thorough, and the focus is always on you. My aim is to provide a space where you feel listened to, supported with evidence-based advice, and guided with a clear follow-up plan that feels right for you.
As a mum of three, I also understand the reality of balancing health with the demands of everyday life.
I know that good care should feel practical, personal, and respectful of what matters most to you.

APPOINTMENTS
Exploring what really matters to you takes time.
Initial consultations are 45 minutes
Your first appointment allows the time to review your history, understand your experience and personal goals and create a personalised treatment plan.
Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes
This is when we will fine tune your plan, review your goals and focus on your future health. (1-2 are recommended)
Ongoing appointments are 15 minutes
Ideal for review and script renewal.
Follow-up isn’t an afterthought, it’s an essential part of ongoing care.
HOW TO BOOK
No referral is required
Appointments are available in person or telehealth -Australia Wide.
In person clinic appointments are held within Merewether Specialist Centre, located on the corner of Glebe Road and Gordon Avenue, Hamilton South.
The entrance to the private car park is on Glebe Road heading towards the direction of The Junction.
We have ramp access for wheelchairs and disabled parking.
If our car park is full we suggest parking either on Gordon Avenue or Elliot Street.

Yes, we encourage you to keep an ongoing relationship with your regular GP for your broader, general and urgent care needs.
Dr Karyn Women’s Health clinic aims to work alongside your usual medical care, offering a detailed consultation of your particular women’s health needs in order to support overall health.

Yes. Telehealth appointments are available wherever you live, making care more convenient and accessible.

Initial consultations are 45minutes duration and involve taking a full history, thorough exploration of current symptoms and creation of a personalised management plan. Investigations, if required are arranged at this appointment. If you have any recent blood tests or investigations please bring them with you. Medication, if indicated, is provided at this consult as part of your plan.
Cost is $345 upfront (out of pocket cost is $219.90 after your medicare rebate)
Follow-up consultations are 30minutes duration and involve reviewing goals, investigations (if requested), and management planning. Focus is also placed upon ongoing preventative health needs.
Cost is $225 upfront (out of pocket cost is $140.10 after your medicare rebate)
Brief, 15minute appointments, ideal for ongoing support and prescriptions are available for some patients
Cost is $110 upfront (out of pocket cost is $66.10 after your medicare rebate)
